In order to provide a well-balanced educational experience, we incorporate arts, music, sports, outdoor activities and social activities in our program. At UEN, we also have a sports instructor who trains our students to participate in different competitions such as Special Olympics games.
Periodic assessments help to monitor the progress for challenged children, while assisting in identifying physical, psychological and educational milestones. This enables our teachers and therapists to modify each students program as per their requirement.
Special computer classes have been initiated at UEN because we believe that the correct use of information technology can help in the development of our students.

Speech & Language Therapy
As communications is a very important life skill, speech and language therapy are a vital part of our program. At UEN, we begin with the speech assessment of the child. Based on this assessment, we create an individualized program targeting specific areas of speech and language development. This is followed by devoted and passionate efforts to help the child come out of his or her incommunicative world into the world of being understood. UEN offers speech therapy and language development for children in the following categories:
Qualified and trained teachers create individualised educational plans keeping in view our students specific strengths and weaknesses.
Language is a vital part of social development and goes hand in hand with speech therapy. The basic focus of our language art program is to enable a child to express, comprehend and communicate. Apart from developing reading and writing skills, we also bring in other forms of communications like a picture exchange communication system, sign language and verbal cues.
Reading is an important aspect of our curriculum and we teach readings through Phoenix and sight words Our teachers also read to our children to help them establish a relationship with books.
We develop our students fine motor skills before starting formal instructions in writing. Care is taken to ensure proper posture, pre-hand writing skills and pencil grip through various fine motor exercises like finger aerobics, palm exercises and wrist exercises.
Physiotherapy
Optimal physical development is vital for a child’s physical and mental growth, general health and well-being.
The Physiotherapy department at UEN is spacious and highly equipped to meet the unique needs of our children. We have a highly specialized team of Physiotherapists dealing with a variety of congenital, developmental, neuromuscular, skeletal, and other disorders in children.
Our Pediatric Physiotherapy department provides assessment, treatment, and therapeutic programs to children between the ages of 0 to young adults. These programs are tailor made to each child's specific requirements and our staff works diligently to ensure that our students reach their physical developmental milestones. We keep our children engaged through conversation, color and sound so that the sessions are enjoyable for them.
Treatments focus on improving posture & balance, muscle tone & strength, gross & fine motor skills, eye hand coordination & gait training. We work closely with our children and their family in order to promote independence at home and in the community.
UEN's therapy room is colorful and filled with toys and equipment to keep our children relaxed and entertained. Conventional therapies do not appeal to children, thus we incorporate play in most of our therapeutic techniques which is our most important tool in maintaining the child’s interest during therapy.
Boarding
Home is where your heart is. UEN is a special home for persons with severe disabilities. We at UEN, not only cater to the needs of day scholars but also entertain full time boarders. Not all children with chronic disabilities and illnesses can be managed at home and therefore require care on a long term basis and with specially designed facilities. We at UEN have boarding facilities to acomodate specially abled children where we provide them with complete academic and social facilities.
As most of the boarders come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, Umeed-e-Noor therefore accommodates them through resources it is able to generate, but generation of funds is not an easy task. Therefore, we rely on different funding agencies and individual donors to support in maintaining this facility.
